Job Description:

As the deputy Title IX coordinator, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with university policy, Title IX, VAWA, and the Clery Act legislation for all members of SCAD and for facilitating ongoing training, consultation, and technical and educational opportunities on Title IX rights and obligations. You will be required to attend new student orientations where you will present an overview of student rights under Title IX. You will also oversee all investigations of reports and complaints regarding potential misconduct. Similarly, you will evaluate requests for confidentiality by those who file complaints, collecting, analyzing, and reporting to appropriate university authorities raising potential issues.

In this role you will review university policies and ensure appropriate procedures are in place; work with local police and victim advocates; coordinate with the university's Clery Act compliance team, university safety, and human resources; and analyze data collected through the Annual Climate Survey. Responsibilities include managing files related to grievances and reports, promoting university-wide awareness and discussion of Title IX issues, and ensuring the university is meeting the requirements for primary prevention programs.

The deputy Title IX coordinator works closely with the Title IX coordinator as the point of contact for any government inquiries, excluding athletics and Section 504 disabilities compliance oversight. In addition, this position is responsible for hiring Title IX office employees and providing training for all members of the university, including Title IX investigators, fact finders, appeals officers, and sanctions officers.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least two years of supervisory experience
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in a legal, student conduct, student life, human resources, law enforcement, regulatory compliance setting or similar field
  • Ability to interpret equal opportunity and nondiscrimination laws and regulations as necessary, including Title IX and VAWA
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present to large and small groups for training and informative purposes

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution
  • Background in law enforcement or university Title IX investigative experience and training certification

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
  • Driver's license
  • Acceptance as a SCAD authorized driver

Travel Required:
  • 10% to 20%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
