The Technical Writer position has the responsibility and authority to drive, create and edit work instructions and associated training materials for all CPP-Minneapolis employees. This individual will be primarily responsible for creating and revising technical work instructions for products manufactured at CPP-Minneapolis.
This position is based in Bloomington, MN and is required to be on-site. Remote applicants will not be considered. This role reports to the General Manager at our plant in Bloomington, MN and is considered a critical member of the CPP-Minneapolis team. Job description
Work with various team members to gather information from production technicians, subject-matter experts and technical staff to develop, organize, and write procedures, training materials, and process documentation
Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
Write easy-to-understand training materials, work instructions and internal communication, as requested
Plans, develops, writes, and edits detailed technical instructions for manufacturing personnel
Produces PDF and HTML/web-based publications using a variety of tools
Researches and translates technical information into manuals and/or web-based documents for highly technical and less technical users
Documents engineering processes and specifications
Recommends formats responsive to technical and user requirements
Produces products that conform to company documentation and quality assurance standards
Partner with third-party vendors on various projects, as needed
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify risks and issues and devise mitigation strategies and contingency plans
Plan, schedule and track project milestones.
Estimate resources and participant needs to deliver project on time and budget
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals and requirements
About You
BS in Technical Writing or Engineering with Technical Writing experience
4 years of experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
