Overview:
The Department of Medical Education at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso Paul L. Foster School of Medicine offers an exceptional opportunity for an anatomist to join our interdisciplinary team of full-time faculty. The successful candidate will work with fellow basic and clinical science educators to develop and deliver a highly integrated clinical presentation-based medical curriculum. This individual will also engage in research and service activities based on individual interests, credentials and experience.
The Department of Medical Education houses a number of state-of-the art educational spaces, including a 5000 square-foot gross anatomy lab for medical student teaching and research. The department also manages a regional willed body program to meet the anatomical education and research needs for West Texas and Southern New Mexico. In addition to co-developing and delivering the core medical curriculum, our anatomy faculty manage the Distinction in Anatomy program, a popular merit-based distinction pathway for students interested in pursuing anatomy-rich medical specialties, as well as a popular 4th-year surgical anatomy elective.
Faculty in the Department of Medical Education have access to a 2700 square-foot molecular and cell biology laboratory space dedicated to support faculty-mentored student research experiences. Access to additional instrumentation and collaborative research expertise is granted by four centers of research emphasis (Cancer, Diabetes & Metabolism, Infectious Diseases, and Neuroscience) located in the adjacent Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine.
