Your Next Career Opportunity – Data Center Facilities Manager

This position is responsible for the maintenance activity of a data center location while maintaining safety, efficiency, and reliability in operating and maintaining the facility infrastructure, systems, and equipment in a cost-effective manner.

What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities


  • Provide indirect supervision and support to the property and data center maintenance team, including oversight of priorities and scheduling.

  • Assist with project management, coordination and scheduling.

  • Allocate resources to ensure tasks and goals are fulfilled in a timely manner.

  • Oversee the maintenance activities of the of critical infrastructure and environmental building systems including: mechanical (HVAC, computer room air conditioners, chillers, and plumbing) electrical (UPS, DC battery systems, PDU, generators, transfer switches, and switchgear), cabling (data and voice, broad band), fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems (fire alarm, duress, card access, CCTV).

  • Identify safety hazards within the building and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure a safe environment.

  • Implement, administer, and manage the safety training program.

  • Responsible for the annual maintenance plan and scheduling.

  • Oversee the activities of contractors working within the building either as representatives of the building itself or tenants operating within the building, including the implementation of advance training and notification to all contractors.

  • Ensure that a critical work plan is clear among the building team, engineers, tenants and contractors who perform work on the building’s critical infrastructure.

  • Ensure compliance for building specific business continuity plans. Ensure Emergency Response Plan is up to date to include emergency equipment shutoff, power drops, HAZMAT, chemical spill, weather emergencies, earthquakes, and fire safety/drill program.

  • Maintains the highest degree of electrical, mechanical, fire, and automated facility operational readiness.

  • Meets with senior management team on various facilities issues, including engineering, property, and project management.

  • Responsible for the maintenance and operational readiness of all critical and noncritical equipment and devices to achieve the company's mission of 100% reliability and operational readiness.

  • Understand the engineering design and operational aspects of the critical facilities, systems, equipment, and occupying lines of business. Ensures system critical facility and system shortcomings are identified and understood, risk communicated to upper management, and corrective actions developed and recommended.

  • Ability to operate and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC and electrical equipment. Experience with diesel generators, high voltage transfer equipment, uninterruptible power supplies, and chilled water units is a must.

  • Perform preventative maintenance, system testing, and daily routines for inspection of all related systems and maintain records and logs.

  • Assist in providing security in the building including operation of a card access system when needed.

  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements


    • H.S. Diploma/GED

      • and 3-5 years hands on experience in critical room air conditioning equipment. Experience leading with an ownership mentality for maintaining uptime in a critical environment. Experience implementing, maintaining, and updating MOPs and SOPs in a facilities data center environment preferred.

      • and 5-10 years electronics or electrical hands on experience.

      • and 5-10 years of combined critical facility operations and maintenance experience; Preferably in a Data Center environment.



    • Strong working technical knowledge and understanding of critical data center systems, including HVAC, standby emergency power, uninterruptible power supplies, and associated infrastructure.

    • 1PH and 3PH electrical formulas and calculations.

    • Ability to understand and apply power factor variable to various systems and circuits.

    • Awareness of technical standards (ASHRAE, ASME, EPA, OSHA, LEED-EBOM, etc.)

    • Demonstrated knowledge and intermediate proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.

    • Domestic Travel 10% of the time

    • Valid Government Issued Driver's License

    • HVAC Certification Pref
