Job Description:

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Salary: $75,000.00 USD Annually - $90,000.00 USD Annually

Description: Our client is currently seeking a Quality Engineer. They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer to join our team. In this position you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the quality standards by developing, implementing, and managing processes to ensure products conform to requirements. You will work cross functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to identify continuous improvement opportunities and work to identify and implement process improvements for our team who build pumps which are used worldwide which people depend on for water, sanitation, food, oil, and so much more!


This job will have the following responsibilities:


  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance procedures and protocols to ensure continued effectiveness of the Quality Management System.

  • Monitor and evaluate manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with Quality standards.

  • Perform internal audits and support external audits of the Quality Management System.

  • Production Part Approval Process

  • Develop and lead the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new and existing products.

  • Define PPAP requirements for both internal and external changes, including working with suppliers to obtain necessary documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with PPAP requirement and documentation standards.

  • Change Management

  • Serve as Quality representative for Engineering and Manufacturing change control processes.

  • Define Quality requirements for effective change management.

  • Supplier Quality Management

  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming products.

  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure high quality standards are maintained.

  • Provide support to suppliers and manage the resolution of supplier quality issues.

  • Root Cause Analysis

  • Investigate and analyze quality related problems to determine root cause.

  • Identify and implement effective corrective actions to address identified issues.

  • Metrology

  • Utilize and maintain Metrology equipment used to inspect and validate machined and purchased components.

  • Implement best practices for measuring and validating product specifications.

  • Train Inspection personnel on the proper use and maintenance of measurement equipment.

  • Training and Development

  • Provide training to manufacturing personnel on quality standards and processes.

  • Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement within the organization.

  • Statistical Analysis

  • Implement statistical methods and tools to monitor and control manufacturing processes.

  • Analyze SPC data to identify trends and recommend opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant Science required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in an engineering role with broad exposure and increasing responsibilities over time.

  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer working in a high requirement manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485.

  • Proficiency in applying statistical methods and statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.

  • Proficient in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

  • Ability to write technical documentation, including procedures and work instructions.

  • Must be a strong individual contributor with cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Experience with measurement equipment and calibration requirements and methods.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including success applying tools such as DMAIC, 8D, A3.

  • Must have good organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple projects.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of communicating technical information at all levels of the organization, including with external customers.

  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, GD&T, product specifications, work process documents, etc.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, or Lean Expert certification.

  • Experience with manufacturing processes: CNC machining, metal casting, injection molding.

  • Measurement equipment programming experience: CMM, Keyence, MicroVu, etc.

  • ASQ Certifications desirable.
