POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides high-level support in planning, implementing, and advancing research programs and initiatives across all UTHealth schools. Supports research infrastructure and improves research collaboration across all UTHealth schools on behalf of the Office of Research Operations.

This role will be working a hybrid schedule, partly on-campus and partly at home. It is full-time and eligible for all UTHealth Houston benefits. Ideal candidates would be those who have completed a post-doctoral fellowship and decided not to pursue a faculty position. The office location will be at the University Center Tower.

POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Supports and coordinates activities related to research service centers, including budget reviews, annual cost accounting, technology assessments, and organization of annual advisory meetings.

2. Institutional level support for the core management software platform, including user support, core staff support, usage reporting, troubleshooting systems integration, and training.

3. Institutional-level support for the electronic lab notebook platform, including coordination of training events, outreach, and end-user support.

4. Supports pre-proposal collection, eligibility vetting, and internal review for limited submission funding opportunities at the institution.

5. Serves as liaison to internal offices related to activities in research advancement, including the Offices of Academic and Research Affairs, the Deans' Offices, Research Compliance, Safety and Health Environment, and Risk Management Procurement Information Technology and Facilities.

6. Works closely with internal departments regarding research strategy and collaborative opportunities.

7. May assist in the preparation of letters of support and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies.

8. Supports ongoing strategic plans for research.

9. Works in collaboration with leadership to carry out additional tasks and duties as necessary to support research innovation.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Experience with research planning and implementation. Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A high degree of professionalism and confidentiality. Strong organizational and multitasking skills are required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in science or a health administration-related field. Doctoral degree preferred. Preference is given to post-doctoral fellows who have decided not to pursue a faculty position.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Five (5) years of applicable experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
