Job Description:

General Summary: Operates a class 2 wastewater treatment facility as the operator in charge.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operates, inspects and maintains the wastewater treatment equipment consistent with permit requirements.

2. Collects and calculates wastewater operations and control data.

3. Collects samples and conducts wastewater laboratory tests. 

4. Adjusts facility controls to maintain required operating standards.

5. Performs general equipment inspection, maintenance, minor equipment repair and adjustments.

6. Operates and maintains the odor control systems.

7. Ensures monthly monitoring limits are met in accordance with regulatory requirements.

8. Follows standard operating procedures, emergency plans, and state and federal codes.

Job Specifications

1. Level of certification for the facility is required.

2. 3+ years of experience in wastewater treatment operations and maintenance is required. 

3. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

Working Conditions

1. Wastewater facility and outdoor environment.

2. Climbing stairs or ladders, lifting, kneeling, and bending with items needed to perform required tasks is required.

3. Monitoring of bowlus flume pit may require climbing in & out of shallow pit. 

4. Various chemicals used in the facility including caustic & sulphuric acid are present. 

5. Production demands may require overtime and/or evening or weekend scheduling.
