Job Summary

A Senior ABAP Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining ABAP-based solutions to support our business operations and enhance our SAP system. This role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including SAP functional consultants, business analysts, and end-users, to gather requirements, analyze business processes, and deliver scalable and efficient technical solutions.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, and implement ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms to meet business requirements and improve system functionality.
  • Perform technical analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging of ABAP code to identify and resolve issues, ensuring system stability and performance.
  • Collaborate with SAP functional consultants and business stakeholders to understand requirements, translate business needs into technical specifications, and provide technical expertise and recommendations.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance.
  • Configure and customize SAP modules as needed, leveraging ABAP skills to enhance system capabilities and optimize business processes.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including technical specifications, design documents, and test plans, to support system implementations and upgrades.
  • Stay current with SAP ABAP technology trends, advancements, and best practices, and proactively identify opportunities for innovation and optimization within the organization.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to integrate SAP systems with third- party applications and technologies, ensuring seamless data exchange and interoperability.
  • Participate in project planning, estimation, and prioritization activities, providing technical expertise and input to ensure successful project delivery within established timelines and budgets.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, addressing system issues, resolving tickets, and implementing system enhancements and upgrades as needed.
  • Modernize User Interfaces by designing and building applications consistent with the SAP Fiori Application Architecture.
  • Implementing Fiori applications (transactional, factsheet and analytical) and enhancing standard applications using enhancement framework.
  • Designing & modeling OData services.
  • Train and mentor junior team members on ABAP, S/4, and other SAP technologies.

Qualifications

Educational and Experience Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as an ABAP Developer, with a proven track record of designing, developing, and implementing ABAP solutions within SAP environments.
  • Experience extending SAP standard functionality using ABAP Objects and other modern SAP technologies.
  • Experience with SAP Fiori or other web User Interface technologies:

    • SAP UI5 related technologies and development tools

(e.g.: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, VSCode, Eclipse, etc.)


    • RESTful APIs (e.g.: OData) and SAP Gateway
  • Strong SAP S/4 HANA experience
  • SAP certification(s) in ABAP development is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of SAP ABAP programming language, including ABAP Objects, BAPIs, User Exits, BADIs, and enhancement frameworks.
  • Strong experience with SAP modules such as SD, MM, FI/CO, PP, QM, and proficiency in SAP development tools, including ABAP Workbench, Eclipse, and SAP GUI.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Fiori, SAPUI5, OData services, iDoc, EDI, and other SAP technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues and implement effective solutions.
