The LJB Safety Director will work out of our corporate headquarters in Dayton, Ohio to provide overall corporate safety leadership, ensure compliance with corporate safety standards, implement safety directives, and ensure safety training, policies and procedures are meeting our client standards and governmental regulations. This includes keeping LJB in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.



CORPORATE SAFETY DIRECTOR MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work risks, raise safety awareness and ensure safe work practices both in the office and when employees are working on client sites.

  • Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.

  • Conduct random client work site safety inspections to ensure safety regulation compliance.

  • Investigate accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes and install preventive measures.

  • Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives when necessary.

  • Maintain third party contractor safety management programs (Ex. Avetta, ISN, etc.).

  • Maintain safety files and records as required by OSHA, etc.

  • Keep LJB's HSE manual updated as necessary.

  • Facilitate quarterly safety committee meeting.

  • Meet the physical requirements of the job.

  • Ability to travel throughout the year, will include up 2-3 safety site visits.

  • Other duties as required.




CORPORATE SAFETY DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:



  • At least five to seven years of occupational health and safety experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

  • A bachelor's degree in safety management, environment health and safety or a related field from an accredited University is preferred.

  • CSP certification preferred.

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, ANSI, FRSA).

  • Experience with systems similar to Avetta, ISN, and Complyworks preferred.




CORPORATE SAFETY DIRECTOR KEY COMPETENCIES:



  • Must be detail and service oriented with good interpersonal skills.

  • Able to communicate with employees at all levels.

  • Comfortable with performing in-person or video-based training.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional groups and teams.




CORPORATE SAFETY DIRECTOR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to traverse worksites in different types of weather, and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to perform duties of role.

  • Understands the exposures and risks characteristic to construction site dangers
