The Department of Pediatrics, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia is actively seeking a facutly member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to serve in a full-time, non-tenured track position as a board certified/board eligible Pediatric Endocrinology physician. The position will provide clinical care for the pediatric endocrinology patient population, to include satellite locations, in both outpatient and inpatient clinical settings. Clinical care would include but is not limited to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering and interpreting lab results, developing treatment plans, and patient/family education. The position will maintain and ensure that relevant patient records are properly updated, and share weekday, weekend and holiday emergent/after-hours call coverage.


Comprehensive services are provided in the 154 bed Children's Hospital of Georgia with the region's only Level IV NICU. We have a comprehensive group of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists serving children and families from across Georgia and we are a key sub specialty referral center for the southeast. The Children's Hospital of Georgia is part of the Augusta University Health System which includes a 478-bed medical center, a Medical Office Building with more than 80 outpatient practice sites in one convenient setting, and a Critical Care Center housing a 13-county regional trauma center.


Successful candidates will have a proven history of excellent clinical skills, involvement with clinical research, and strong desire to be involved with resident teaching. Additionally, candidates should have an MD/DO degree and be board certified/eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology. Educational responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing mentorship, clinical supervision and consultation to residents/medical students/staff at AU and develop a more in-depth educational experience for trainees in pediatric endocrinology, providing training to residents/medical students/staff in pediatric endocrinology through didactics.



Responsibilities




Clinical Responsibilities - 90%




Provide clinical care for pediatric patient population, to include satellite locations, in include both outpatient and inpatient setting. Clinical care would include but is not limited to the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders, consultations, acute care, ordering and interpreting lab results, developing treatment plans, patient/family education and various procedures. Maintain and ensure that relevant patient records are properly updated. Share week day and weekend emergent/after-hours call coverage.




Educational Responsibilities - 10%




Provide mentorship, clinical supervision and consultation to residents/medical students/staff at AU and develop a more in-depth educational experience for trainees in pediatric endocrinology; Provide training to residents/medical students/staff at AU/AUMC in pediatric endocrinology through didactics; Achieve and maintain teaching scores at or above the department mean.



Required Qualifications


Medical degree from an accredited medical school/university, Board Certified in Pediatrics, and Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology.


Must have or be eligible for a State of Georgia medical license, federal DEA and CPR certified.



Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training



Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.



Professor- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.


Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:



  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;



  • Evidence of ability as a teacher;



  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;



  • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,



  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.



    Shift/Salary/Benefits


    This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.


    The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.



    Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
