Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will oversee various accounting functions and play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the company. This individual will be responsible for financial reporting, account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices, as well as experience in the logistics or transportation industry.
Responsibilities:
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
Oversee the general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
Review and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness
Prepare and review intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and provide financial insights
Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, as well as financial reporting for senior management
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, including coordination of audits and financial reviews
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the accounting function
Mentor and train junior accounting staff members as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA certification preferred
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a senior accounting role
Experience in the logistics or transportation industry preferred
Proficiency in accounting software (experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems preferred)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including familiarity with GAAP
