Job Overview

The Prograde Regional EHS and Quality Manager is responsible for providing high level supervisory, technical, analytical, data trending/analysis, training, audits/inspections, and other support within the environmental, health and safety and quality processes. The position will partner with the Regional Director of Operations to deploy drive transformational improvement through both corporate and local improvement initiatives.

EH&S or Engineering professional seeking to use their well-developed EH&S, analytical skills and understanding of manufacturing practices to have a broad impact. The candidate will have the ability to draw upon past experiences to partner with the local operations leaders, implement sustainable processes, and drive accountability through an organized approach.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and revise corporate policies as needed to support the objectives of the department.
  • Monitor leading and lagging indicators to inform priority decisions and strategic direction. Provide information/updates to business leaders as appropriate to ensure that department objectives and activities are aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Train employees: planning and coordinating work through operations leadership, addressing complaints/concerns, and resolving function related problems system wide and with plant personnel as requested.
  • Manage budget, incentive issues, and other business issues relating to the EHS and Quality functions.

Environmental, Health And Safety Responsibilities
  • Lead strategy development for ATW as it pertains to incident/injury reduction, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to health, safety, or environmental affairs.
  • Audit/inspect assigned facilities at the established frequency to ensure that all ATW operations are operating in accordance with industry best practices to ensure the safety of all ATW employees.
  • Provide leadership to plant-level EHS staff for the promotion of a safe and clean workplace that meets both the spirit and content of applicable laws, regulations, and standards for all EHS activities.
  • Provide appropriate training for management, supervision, and all associates with respect to EHS policy, practices, and procedures.
  • Administer Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Support plant EHS staff in the tracking of information for calculations and report filing.
  • Lead waste minimization efforts. Ensure safe and appropriate storage of waste and other chemicals in compliance with federal, state, and local standards.
  • Interface with outside agencies, inspectors, and consultants.
  • Monitor safety action items, ensuring that the responsible party is taking corrective action and maintain records for follow up.
  • Establish and maintain safety programs and industrial hygiene duties such as, but not limited to, hearing conservation, blood borne pathogens, air sampling, asbestos, personal protective equipment, and others as required by standards and regulations.
  • Investigate injuries and participate in root cause analyses, etc. as needed, and provide input for all safety or environmental investigations at assigned facilities.
  • Prepare and/or present monthly safety statistics to appropriate stakeholders including safety metrics, workers' compensation cost summaries, and other related information.

Quality Responsibilities
  • Responsible for driving both strategic and tactical projects to achieve best in class quality for our customers.
  • Leverage Warranty and Internal Quality Data to lead systemic problem-solving activities to achieve the overall company product quality and performance goals.
  • Eliminate process variation by creating, revising, and implementing work instructions or quality standards.
  • Use tools and methods such as A3, PDCA, RCCA, 8D, and other similar tools to communicate current state and actions to improve the quality, cost and performance of the company's product and processes.
  • Work with plant operational and lean practitioners in promoting the application of error proofing solutions that leverage root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Provide quality technical expertise for process development, maintenance, and adherence to engineering and quality specifications.
  • Communicate the status of quality issues internally and to customers as required.

Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or minimum of eight years relevant engineering/industrial experience or combination.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience with industrial health, hygiene, safety and environmental practices.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience working with OSHA standards, EPA regulations, (state and federal) and DOT Hazmat regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to solve problems, meet customer needs, adapt to change.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to speak at all levels of the company (shop floor to executive leadership team).
  • Experience being self-starting, independent, autonomous, creative, and an internally motivated team member.
  • Direct trailer industry experience / knowledge preferred.
