Job Description:

Tulsa City-County Library, a valued partner in the Tulsa County community since 1961, is seeking a dynamic, visionary library professional to fill the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). This key member of senior leadership will be charged with strategic and operational oversight of the library's multiple branches, community outreach activities, and four new library buildings.

The COO will recommend and implement strategies that promote a positive customer experience and provide for continued community growth and sustainability. They will be responsible for establishing policies and programs that promote the library's culture, mission, values and tenets; and will identify trends and new technology necessary to keep the organization relevant over time.

Qualified individuals must have an MLIS and ten or more years of proven progressive operations experience and strategic responsibility in a large library system; prior C-Suite experience preferred. Strong analytic skills and a proven ability to remain flexible and engaged is required. Must also have a strong understanding of:

u emerging technology

u budget process

u change management

The Tulsa-City County Library is an amazing space for our communities, and our Central library has a robust maker space, state of the art digital learning lab, interactive flight simulators, and even a recording studio.

As an independent library district TCCL has a dedicated annual operating budget of approximately $38 million and a robust 501(c)(3) foundation. The library features three ethnic resource centers, a genealogy center and dispenses several unique annual author awards replete with cash prizes, which attract high-caliber authors to Tulsa. We have 24 public and two non-public locations. Over 5 million visits take place yearly! TCCL is well on its way of adapting to the future innovative role of libraries. Qualifications

* Knowledgeable in current policies and practices as well as future trends, technology, and information in the library profession;

* Displays good judgement in analyzing and promoting ideas to benefits customer base and communities served;

* Proven ability to remain flexible and engaged during peak periods of organizational transformation:

* Ability to effectively present information in a variety of settings;

* Proven success in managing change through both short and long range planning;

* Strong understanding and support of organizational culture;

* Solid understanding of budget and an overall business mindset;

* Ability to think strategically and make good decisions under pressure;

* Superior analytical skills and knowledge of performance metrics.

Education & Experience

* MLIS required, with a BBA or equivalent degree preferred;

* Ten+ years progressive management experience in a similarly-sized library; C-Suite experience preferred;

* Experience working in a large library system with multiple branches and non-public divisions;

* Advanced understanding of strategic planning processes and performance measures.
