Job Description:

Mechanics (based at separate agency locations) independently perform general maintenance and repairs toFord E450 and Ford F550 Chassis busesfor Three Rivers Community Actions Transportation Department (Hiawathaland Transit); assist with the coordination of external vendors to perform periodic maintenance and minor repairs;and provide upkeep to Transportation facilities.This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and general repairs on transit buses to meet company and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Also, responsible for inventory control of parts and processing all work order paperwork while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.Mechanics collaborate with supervisor and other leaders across the organization to ensure program needs are met.(Full Position Description will be shared with applicants selected for in-person interviews; to request full description, call 507-316-0610.)
Hiawathaland Public Transportation is administered by Three Rivers Community Action, Inc., a non-profit agency providing economic opportunities that strengthen individuals, families and communities in southeastern Minnesota.
Full-time (Monday-Friday), 40 hours per week between 7am and 5pm.
Starting rate $32/hour depending on certifications and qualifications. Excellent benefits including generous Paid Time Off (PTO); health insurance (with an Agency-funded Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)); and a 403(b) Retirement Plan with a generous agencymatch after 12 months of employment.
Mechanic will perform most work at assigned garage/shop ineither Northfield, Red Wing or Plainview. Both Mechanics also travel in personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursed at IRS rate) to all agency locations across Rice, Goodhue and Wabasha Counties.
Mechanics receive a stipend for the purchase of durable work apparel.Must provide own basic hand tools.
Job offers are contingent on a reference check; a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review; a criminal background check with fingerprinting through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS); and a pre-employment DOT drug test. Employees in this position are subject to random and reasonable suspicion DOT drug and alcohol testing throughout their employment.

Qualifications:
Must be ASE-Certified or have more than 5 years of professional experience working on medium/large (mid-duty) vehicles, preferably buses.Demonstrated success in performing a wide variety of maintenance/repair tasks requiring an understanding of bus/automotive repair; will be tested.Proficiency with computers, including a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.Valid Driver License and clean driving record.Ability and willingness to travel in personal vehicle to all agency locations across Rice, Goodhue and Wabasha Counties.Class C Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement must be obtained within three months of employment; if no CDL, Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) must be obtained prior to first day of employment.
Applicants without Class C CDL and Passenger Endorsement: employee will need to obtain Class C CDL and Passenger Endorsement, complete all required training, demonstrate safe and proficient skills, and be deemed competent by supervisor. Failure to do so within approximately 90 days of hire date may result in termination of employment.
Current DOT Medical Examiners Certificate (Med Card) must be obtained prior to first day of employment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability and willingness to provide own basic hand tools.
