A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. Provide technical expertise in the area of process and equipment development i.e. equipment/process control and monitoring.
  • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, diagnoses, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.
  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.
  • Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.
  • Provide design support and programming for PLC's, motion control, vision applications, robotics systems, and PC controlled equipment.
  • Monitor and evaluate safety practices and ensure compliance with legislation where relevant. (CE compliance of equipment).
  • Establish the most effective, reliable, and cost-effective processing methods for manufacturing operations.
  • Defines and selects new approaches and implementation of CAD software engineering applications and design specifications and parameters.
  • Develops routines and utility programs.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to vendor automation related stakeholders as appropriate and performs test, debugging and troubleshooting activities on mission critical automation systems.
  • Prepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval.
  • Ensures delivered automation systems adhere to applicable domestic and international standards as well as to company and manufacturing site's EHS policies and SOP's.
  • Provide support for SOPs, qualification protocols, gap assessments, risk assessment, Impact Assessment, user requirements, functional and configuration specifications, requirements traceability, validation plans, validation summary reports and change controls.
  • Support PLC Software and Vision system validations.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Minimum of 8 years of experience of relevant experience and may require vocational or technical education and advanced certification in addition to prior work experience
Nice to Have


  • Associate Degree (Electronics, Mechanical or related)
  • Experience in medical devices, pharmaceutical or electronic industry.
  • Exposure or Experience to high volume, synchronized automated equipment running at rates of 35, 40, 100+ppm's, high precision assembly, Allen Bradley PLC, Servo motion controls, computer machine vision systems, Robotics, complex pneumatics, electrical wiring, mechanical assemblies and sensor.
  • Applications Development using an object-oriented language (i.e. C#, VB.Net)
  • SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, java, and database design desirable.
  • PLC programming experience. Experience building new control systems.
  • Knowledgeable integrating Automation systems to MES systems for data collection and control
  • Vision system design and integration for inspecting, locating and positioning.
  • Experience with Robots/Cobots.
  • Knowledge Network design and debug
  • HMI development and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledgeable on project management of automation systems development lifecycle.
  • Experience with servo controllers, motion applications.
  • Solid Works and/or AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced on Design for Excellence (DFX) Principles and risk management methodologies such as PFMEA.
  • Effective verbal, non-verbal, visual, and written communication skills.
