Casual/ Hourly Research Support Assistant with the UTHealth School of Public Health.

Texas Epidemic Public Health Institute (TEPHI), established by the 87 th Texas Legislature (2021), is an agency associated with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). By leveraging the robust capabilities of Texas' largest school of public health and its six campuses located throughout the state in Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio, TEPHI will:
• Create a trained multi-sector public health reserve of at least 3,100 members across the state.
• Establish a reliable and secure data analysis infrastructure reinforced by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
• Create a laboratory testing network to monitor emerging infectious agents beyond COVID-19.
Develop new and operationalize current "work and learn safe" protocols for small and rural businesses, schools, and essential food production.
Assists and supports all activities of the TEPHI program: Business Operations Resiliency Program. Functions in basic to moderately complex tasks to support research initiatives and activities. This is a temporary part-time position. (10 hours per week)
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Handles general inquiries and collects industry specifics. Process of paperwork related to data collection.
2. Contacts businesses and industry personnel to conduct informational interviews for program development, including TEPHI Talks.
3. Consults subject matter experts to enhance organizational efficiency and program delivery.
4. Prepares documents and conducts literature reviews and possibly financial analysis.
5. Assists in the preparation of graphs, tables, data reports, and presentation materials.
6. May assist in data entry.
7. Communicates with senior personnel and is involved in monthly meetings.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Certification/Skills:
• Excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable developing new relationships on behalf of the program.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma required. Must be currently enrolled or will be enrolled in Bachelor's Degree Program or higher.
Minimum Experience:
None.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
