In this role, reporting to the P&O VP, Mars Food & Nutrition N.A, the P&O Business Partner will support the P&O VP and be a critical thought partner with focus on:


  • Closely partner with the N.A. Food and Nutrition Leadership team and respective functional teams, as their thought partner to ensure overall effectiveness of people-related metrics, continuous improvement of the Associate Experience (AX) and living the Five Principles.

  • Drive OD and change towards accelerating the business growth as well as the talent pipeline health.

  • Use Organizational Development (OD) principles and data analytics to develop and deploy rigorous people plans and strategies that supports associate development/engagement.

  • Lead all key talent, culture and P&O signature process elements across the Market side of the business inclusive of but not limited to functions such as Marketing, Finance, Sales, and Canadian Demand Organization acting as a trusted coach and credible partner to key stakeholders.

  • You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the Global P&O VP for Food and Global Food POLT to shape the Global People agenda and ensure fit-for-purpose for the North America Region. Over time, this will include supporting People Agenda Workstreams across the North America Business.

What are we looking for?


  • Minimum qualification: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Management or related field

  • 10+ years of work experience, minimum 5 years P&O experience

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and reach strategic business goals

  • Solid knowledge of global and local policies and practices and understand their application in solving business needs and ability to provide guidance

  • Strong consulting and coaching skills and ability to influence decisions to a positive business outcome

  • Good business acumen / business experience

  • High action orientation and problem solving capabilities with ability to deal with ambiguity and be resourceful

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision making skills, using a comprehensive approach with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Effective in building relationship at all levels

What will be your key responsibilities?

Business Leadership - Partner with the Food Leadership Team Functional Leaders to set up the organization for success and future growth. Provide business partnership by ensuring that the People agenda is aligned with the business strategy, most specifically via building required strategic capabilities in the organization to support our long-term Value Creation Plan. Partner with the Functional Leaders and P&O VP to identify the People Interventions that will enable the Regional Segment People and Business strategy.

Talent & Organizational Health - Leading best in class talent attraction & development while driving associate engagement. Understand the 'pulse' of the business to strengthen the health of the organization and ensure "fit for purpose" organization design with the right people in the right roles.

Unit Effectiveness - Drive efficiency across the P&O operating model by facilitating the adoption of Mars signature programs, offering strategic guidance to unit specific projects, providing P&O Business Partner support to all functions, and partnering with key global stakeholders.

Enabling Operations - Maintain a strong relationship with the MGS P&O team to ensure all functions of the P&O model enable the business; this includes Talent Acquisition, Associate Relations, Talent Management, MyP&O, etc.
