We have a wonderful opportunity at The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) to work as a Highway Project Scheduling/Program Coordinator in the Program Management Division.


The Highway Project Scheduling/Programming Coordinator plays an important role in preparing all state and federal aid-funded transportation construction projects for advertisement.

If unable to fill at the Highway Project Scheduling/Program Coordinator level, NDOT will consider hiring at the Highway Project Scheduling/Program Analyst level on the basis that you will be required to work toward the PMP certification and successfully obtain PMP credentials to be reclassified for the posted Highway Project Scheduling/Program Coordinator classification.


Pay range for Highway Project Scheduling/Program Analyst: $24.609 - $36.276 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.


Pay range for Highway Project Scheduling/Program Coordinator: $28.439 - $41.923 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.


JOB DUTIES:


You will:
- Manage a program of up to 170 active projects in various phases of delivery, with responsibility to manage Scope, Cost, and Schedule.
- Learn the Federal and State requirements and steps to prepare a construction project for advertisement.
- Be part of a team of technical project managers assigned to oversee projects within a region.
- Be empowered to identify and resolve project issues by working with executive and technical staff.
- Customize project schedules and task assignments in an electronic Project Management system used by hundreds of NDOT employees.
- Conduct and attend meetings to assess and mitigate project schedule risks with technical experts.
- Report project risks and proposed solutions to executive teams.
- Improve the quality of life that impacts fellow Nebraskans and travelers through our state.
- Work in and promote an environment of partnership, continuous learning and process improvement

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:




Minimum Qualifications:



  • Highway Project Scheduling/Programming Coordinator: Four years post-high school coursework/training in engineering, construction management/science, or computer science AND two years experience in pre-construction design, or technical construction, or computer science activities and procedures, to include the use of project scheduling computer applications to create and modify project schedules.

  • Highway Project Scheduling/Programming Analyst: Post-high school coursework/training in engineering, engineering technology, highway construction or maintenance, or project management, and experience in using personal computers to access and use various software programs and databases to extract and prepare data and reports.




Preferred Qualifications:



Experience in the following:

  • Project management.

  • Working in/leading a team of technical experts that assess and mitigate project scope cost and schedule risks.

  • With Clarity or another Project Management System, Open Workbench, Microsoft Suite of products, OnBase, or another Document Management System.

  • Creating or tracking performance measures.

  • Using data to make decisions or find trends.

  • Working knowledge/training with Transportation Project Development processes.
