What You Will Do



We are currently searching for a Safety Intern. ITG Brands' Environmental & Safety team maximizes the value of the organization through analysis, planning and implementation of safety process improvements to ensure a compliant and safe workplace.

The Safety Intern will study occupational safety within ITG Brands and the OSHA laws under 29 CFR 1910 to understand their application as it applies to production manufacturing. Focus will be on evaluating and improving manufacturing safety specifications for our Factory Made Cigarette (FMC) products segment.


The Manufacturing Intern will have the following objectives:

• Create filter tow value stream map.
• Collect and analyze data of filter tow inventory checks, consumption, waste, system and physical transfers.
• Perform gap analyze and define improvement opportunities.
• Identify pilot area / material and install improvements.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Participating in Department meetings related to project scope.
• Collecting and analyzing data.
• Organizing and leading meetings & workshops related to project scope.
• Managing project, based on organization standard.
• Spending a significant amount of time in production manufacturing areas, often unescorted once properly trained.

Qualifications




Internship Qualifications:

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Be a student who has completed coursework toward an undergraduate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Be able to work independently

Work Environment and Physical Demand



At ITG Brands, interns are assigned challenging projects that create an opportunity for exposure to other aspects of the business. As an Intern, you will:

• Participate in a safety project and initiatives that are designed to drive continuous improvement
• Develop project management skills, providing clear plans and milestones to drive the project to completion
• Improve Microsoft Office skills
• Demonstrate ability to work independently, use initiative, and complete the assigned project while working with various stakeholders within the organization
• Develop communication skills enabling effective collaboration and relationship building across various levels of the Company
• Work closely on cross-departmental teams to assess hazards, provide solutions and identify opportunities for improvement in meeting regulatory, corporate, and organizational compliance
• Deliver a project presentation to members of the Leadership Team
• Gain basic understanding of the activities of a classic consumer goods product company
