Role:

You will be designing and implementing in Java and/or C++ on Unix platform to help build the next generation backend for Yahoo Mail. This role is in the Communications organization that connects the world through Mail, Messenger, Groups, Calendar, Contacts & Notepad. On this team, you have an amazing opportunity to impact the productivity and connected lives of approximately 300 Million users every month. This amazing team of Engineers, Product Managers and Designers work on next generation innovative experiences transforming how users connect with each other every day

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop large-scale distributed systems that balance resources, constraints, requirements, and complexity


• Deploy, monitor and operate large scale production systems distributed across the globe


• Automate the provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and management of our infrastructure


• Lead projects and mentor junior team members


• Participate in agile development with weekly sprints, planning & estimating work, daily standup, & retrospective


• Effectively collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams


• Recommend alternative approaches to solving complex problems and use new technology to achieve goals

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) with minimum 8 year's experience


• Experience in implementing and/or operating highly scalable and available services specially on public cloud environments (GCP or AWS)


• Experience with OOP: Java, C++, or similar


• Solid understanding of CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, object oriented programming)


• Familiar with HTTP and TCP/IP protocol


• Experience with development on Unix (Linux) platform


• You must enjoy challenging engineering problems. We are looking for someone who can solve complex issues


• Flexible and able to work with a diverse team that includes engineers, marketing, product, and designers


• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
