Position Summary:

Illumina is seeking a talented Executive Compensation leader. This position is an individual contributor leader that will play a key role in developing and implementing executive pay programs, analyzing governance trends, managing board pay and establishing Proxy strategy.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead overall design, implementation, communication and administration of Illumina's executive and performance compensation programs globally.

  • Identify executive compensation market trends to monitor competitiveness of programs, model impact and recommend innovative and effective solutions.

  • Manages agendas and materials for the Compensation Committee.

  • Oversee research of executive and corporate governance trends including proxy advisors' policies.

  • Lead strategy of the annual Proxy in partnership with Legal and Finance teams.

Characteristics of a Successful Candidate


  • Extensive experience in implementing and overseeing global compensation programs with global orientation, perspective and awareness.

  • Strong business acumen and creative thinking in order to design and position solutions as value-add and drive global organizational change.

  • Understands equity-based compensation vehicles with regards to cultural fit, local practices, tax and accounting regulations.

  • Requires excellent presence, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to interact with Executive management and all levels of employees.

  • Strong influencing, negotiating and collaboration skills.

  • A self-starter with a proven ability to produce positive results under tight deadlines with limited resources.

Preferred Experience/Education:


  • Requires Bachelor's degree or equivalent, in Business, HR or related field. An MS or MBA degree is highly desirable.

  • Typically has 10+ year of progressive management responsibility and experience desired.

  • Typically has 15+ years of complex compensation design, including global pay programs, variable, equity and executive compensation experience desired.

  • Experience in life sciences, biotechnology, technology or related industry is preferred.

  • Must be hands on and capable of working independently with strong project management skills.

The estimated base salary range for the Director, Executive Compensation role based in the United States of America is: $167,200 - $250,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
