University Communications and Marketing, which includes the University Events team, provides strategic leadership to protect, advance, and elevate the university's brand and reputation in Indiana and around the world by creating guiding resources for and collaborating with communications and marketing partners across all IU campuses, schools, departments, and centers. The University Events team strives to create world-class events and experiences for Indiana University and has the honor of overseeing many of the university's most treasured occasions.
Job Summary
This position supports the daily operations of the University Events communications team.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Stays current with communication trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
Assists with the drafting and editing of content and design across multiple mediums for promoting and supporting events.
Performs routine administrative tasks related to communications, such as drafting, editing, or posting electronic or print materials, web content, social media posts, or other digital content.
Assists with editing and execution of print mailings and interdepartmental, external, and email communications.
May monitor relevant social media and news sites and respond to inquiries to provide information.
Manages accuracy of mailing and distribution lists; makes regular updates as there are staffing and/or process changes.
Prepares reports, communications timelines, and calendars; monitors the progress of communications toward relevant deadlines.
Utilizes various communications software programs and delivers communications in multiple formats to a variety of audiences.
May serve as a resource to lower-level Communications Assistants and student interns.
May include additional duties in support of other office functions, administrative needs, or special projects.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Requires occasional travel to other IU campuses in Indiana.
Work Location
Indianapolis, Indiana
This position is eligible to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
