The Department of Anesthesiology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Simulation Technologist to work in Miami, FL. The Simulation Technologist assists in the operation and management of training systems to facilitate on- and off-site learner instruction, implementation of simulation-based curricula, skills testing, and quality improvement programs. Moreover, the incumbent maintains simulation and educational equipment for all assigned educational areas.
Supports the daily operations of simulation training areas, including setting up and storing equipment, furniture, and other relevant items.
Maintains medical patient simulators and other training equipment, including hardware, software, operational checks, security, and troubleshoot.
Operates and troubleshoots audiovisual equipment in classrooms and auditoriums.
Performs pre-simulation activities, including programming patient scenarios.
Provides pre-briefing to learners and technical support during scenarios.
Performs post-simulation activities such as restoring training areas to pre-scenario conditions.
Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop scenarios and standardize training procedures.
Maintains simulation documentation, resources, and inventory.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
Commitment to the University's core values.

Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office).
Department Specific Functions
In collaboration with simulation educators and other Center for Patient Safety (CPS) staff, guides simulation course development process by ensuring that scenario elements meet stated learning objectives.
Participates in simulation-based assessment and post-scenario debriefing.
Analyzes and resolves problems in the simulation technology infrastructure, tests and implements cost-effective solutions.
Reviews, analyzes, and modifies systems used in running the simulation and research programs at the Center for Patient Safety, including but not limited to:
Simulation scenario development platform.
Simulation scripting and control systems.
Audiovisual recording, playback, and debriefing systems.
Inventory control system for simulation equipment and supplies.
Learning management system, including learner check-in and registration.
Utilization reporting system.
File management and sharing systems.
Videoconferencing systems.
Centralized research collaboration platform.
Incident tracking system.
In collaboration with IT, regularly updates the operational and technology infrastructure for simulation education to assure simulation technologies integrate with overall IT infrastructure.
Evaluates equipment and software performance and recommends repair, upgrade, replacement, rental or purchase based on cost-benefit analysis.
Stays up to date with current simulation technologies and technical developments in related fields.
Serves as resource to faculty in development and evaluation of educational materials and the integration of simulation into the curriculum.
Trains staff and instructors on the new systems and provides support in their operation.
Provides support for data collection for metrics of the simulation program and to support faculty research.
To evaluate simulation training and other patient safety initiatives, analyzes data and interprets research findings.
Identifies appropriate data sources to conduct and execute analyses.
Manages and oversees the development and maintenance of the UM-JMH Center for Patient Safety website in collaboration with the UM Digital Implementation Team.
Verifies accuracy and internal consistency of reports, including required state and federal reports.
Performs other duties, as assigned, to support simulation-based training and patient safety research.
