College/Department Information
The Division of Sponsored Programs Administration and the Augusta University Research Institute serve as a central unit to coordinate and support Augusta University's Internal and External Sponsored Projects.
The Division aims to identify, support, and advance opportunities for research, training, teaching, and scholarly activities by managing the entire lifecycle of sponsored projects from proposal and grant development and submission to contract preparation, award management, and project close out management. The DSPA seeks to advance extramural support programs for the institution by providing administrative, informational, and logistical assistance to faculty and staff, while ensuring compliance with pertinent policies and regulations of the institution, extramural sponsors, and federal oversight agencies.
Job Summary
The Accountant 2 is responsible for monitoring assigned sponsored accounts. This entails educating the department administrators and principal investigators concerning compliance issues and assisting them in managing the sponsored funds in accordance with state and federal regulations. This position will also be responsible for invoicing/reporting to the sponsored agency, reconciling accounting records, tracking accounts receivable and preparing management reports.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Prepare Financial Reports for Grants.
Prepare Monthly Invoice for Intramural Grants.
Invoice sponsoring agencies for any non-Letter of Credit accounts.
Monitor grant accounts to determine that expenditures are in compliance with agency requirements and terms of the award.
Establish and maintain correct budgets for grant accounts.
Help educate department administrators about maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations for grants.
Review and authorize transfers (expenditure and effort) for sponsored accounts.
Track Accounts Receivable for invoices.
Verify that indirect costs are calculated correctly on accounts.
Perform all other related duties/tasks as assigned and necessary for managing accounts.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the area of Accounting, Finance, or related field of study with a demonstrated emphasis in accounting coursework and a minimum of two years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of accounting, Excel including formulas and pivot tables to achieve management and understanding of large amounts of financial data. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SKILLS
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational, prioritization, analytical and multi-tasking skills.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain confidentiality, follow written processes, use multiple databases to include financial systems, and to reconcile accounts. Ability to recommend solutions to discrepancies as well as continue to monitor accounts and systems ongoing. Ability to establish excellent relationships with faculty, students, and staff.

Pay Grade: 14
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
