Faculty in Mathematics and Developmental Mathematics
The Department of Mathematics at Southern Utah University invites applications for a non-tenure track teaching position at the level of Lecturer, Assistant Professor (NTT), or Associate Professor (NTT) starting in August 2024. The primary responsibility will be to teach developmental math classes, along with possibly lower-division mathematics courses. The successful candidate will show evidence of the ability to listen to student questions, explain concepts in a way they can understand, and provide student outreach and support. Department service and continuing development in teaching are also expected as the faculty member progresses. For rank advancement, scholarly activity can take the form of disseminating teaching findings and professional development, with service on committees in the department and college are expected. The teaching load is 30 semester credit hours per academic year, which generally includes a mixture of 3- and 4-credit courses. These appointments are renewable and are anticipated as long-term, faculty positions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach 30 credit hours per academic year of a variety of developmental mathematics and, given sufficient background, lower-division mathematics and introductory statistics courses.
Continued professional development related to teaching mathematics.
Service to the department.
Curriculum assessment and development.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
A Master's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education is preferred and required for teaching lower-level non-developmental Math classes. A Master's degree in a related field and 18 hours of graduate-level mathematics can be substituted for a Master's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
Evidence of commitment to and excellence in teaching developmental and college-level mathematics, leading to student success in college-level math courses.
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact positively with faculty, staff, and students.
