The primary function of the bulk material handler will be to perform the sampling, monitor and load/unload incoming trucks and railcars, monitor tank levels, and perform transfers of material within the tank farm, daily. This position reports to the Operations Manager and works 7 days on and 7 days off. The refinery process is a 24/7 operation, so work hours will require nights weekends, and/or holidays.
Candidates MUST have oil refinery or chemical plant experience.
Starting at $26/hr.
Key Responsibilities:
• Individual will be able to drive powered fork trucks and be aware of their load limits.
• Monitor tank levels and transfer inventory in/out as needed.
• Monitor incoming trucks bringing in used motor oi, antifreeze, and oily water.
• Monitor outgoing trucks taking out asphalt and wastewater.
• Monitor the loading/unloading operations the entire time the pump is moving product to or from the truck.
• Perform maintenance, housekeeping, or other activities in the warehouse, truck rack, and dock area as directed by supervisor.
• Train relief personnel on operations as needed.
• Rigidly adhere to safe work practices/procedures set forth by regulating authorities and the company and never compromise the safety of any personnel, company, or contractor.
• Will be required to undergo periodic industrial safety training as required by regulating authorities and the company.
• Wear all proper PPE including fall protection when required.
• Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance.
• Report all incidents/injuries/near misses to your supervisor immediately.
• Maintain a "zero-spill" mentality at all times to protect the environment.
• Check all equipment for safe and efficient operations. Report any issues to the Operations Manager.
• Participate in accident or incident investigations as required.
• Perform general housekeeping duties.
• Use basic tools: pipe wrench, crowbar, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
• Calculate levels in tanks using basic math.
• Carry and communicate on a 2-way radio to respond to all calls.
• Communicate with Operations Supervisor to ensure paperwork is in order daily.
• Communicate with the Refinery Lead operator on tank lineups and gauges prior to loading/offloading/transferring.
• Ensure all procedures for loading and offloading are followed.
• Sample incoming trucks per procedure.
• Understand and troubleshoot basic pump operation: cavitation, seal leaks, vibration, etc. to maintain efficient equipment.
• Adequately stock operational and emergency supplies.
• Operate a basic pressure washer.
Requirements:
• MUST have a minimum of 6 months o experience in a refinery plant or chemical plant and truck unloading/loading environment.
• Must have the ability to perform basic computer/email/fax functions.
• Good verbal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work alone or in a team environment.
