Position Summary

To monitor and evaluate product and processes for purposes of development, implementation, and maintenance of quality assurance systems & tools in support of customer and Champion Laboratories' requirements.

Nature and Scope

Champion Laboratories, Inc. is a full-line filter manufacturer with facilities located in Southern Illinois, South Carolina, Michigan, California Europe and China. The sales and marketing operations of Champion Laboratories are headquartered in Albion, IL. Through the use of a direct sales force, independent manufacturer's agents, and in some cases direct account responsibility, automotive, light truck, and heavy duty filters and related products are sold and distributed worldwide.

Quality Assurance Auditor are responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of numerous quality assurance systems and tools. This responsibility ensures cost-effective compliance with internal and external customer requirements as well as to minimize product/ process nonconformance and related costs.

QA Auditor must be able to properly interpret product/part drawing characteristics. The position requires an Associate Degree or other technical discipline. Significant prior experience in a quality-related position may be substituted in part for such formal education. Technicians operate under the general guidelines of the Quality Department as well as in accordance with established Champion Laboratories policies/procedures in support of Champion Laboratories' quality system.

Principal Accountabilities

Responsible for the following assignments based upon Champion Laboratories' Product Development System (PDS):
• In some instances, perform the duty of a product team member, representing Quality.
• Provide leadership and active participation on teams that work on quality concern resolution.
• Responsible for monitoring the status of customer complaints, including resolution, and performing the initial certified approver via the applicable customer system (PRR, QR, 8D, CMS-Customer Monitoring System).
• Assist in the collection and analysis of data used by the product teams to drive continual improvement. (Data examples include scrap, customer quality concerns, process capability, dimensional layouts, gage reproducibility and repeatability studies, warranty analysis, etc.)
• Product team quality representative for the following statements of work:

o Updated Production Control Plan and Product Process Record

o AQP Checklist

o Production Part Approval Process - Vendor and Customer Submissions

o Released Quarantined Parts
• Participate as the quality representative on teams that conduct design reviews and process failure modes effects analysis reviews.
• Product team phase 7 quality responsibility (line reviews).

Responsible for the following assignments within designated operations/manufacturing areas:
• Assist in training activities for operators and other operations/manufacturing personnel.
• Provide follow up of operator training program for validation purposes.
• Assist in the review of Standardized Work Instructions.
• Attend the applicable plant daily accountability meetings, as needed, in order to participate and provide feedback of internal quality concerns, scrap, and customer quality concerns.
• Conduct a periodic review of Process Product Records and provide feedback to the applicable line Supervisors.
• Creating and maintaining quality alerts used in production areas.
• Release and disposition of daily production quarantined parts per the assigned plant.
• Assist in monitoring assigned plant bond room areas in regards to containment, sorting, and disposition of suspect and nonconforming parts.
• Lead containment activities involving internal or 3rd party sorting of suspect product/nonconforming product.
• Periodically conduct process capability studies, measurements of parts, and gage repeatability and reproducibility studies using applicable measurement gages and equipment.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Education: Associate Degree in related field or equivalent in education and experience.

Experience: 1-3 Years related job experience.

Communication: Good oral and written communication skills to produce written technical reports and verbally communicate at varying levels within the company, as well as entities outside the company, such as vendors and customers.

Special Skills:

Knowledge of advanced quality concepts and principles.

Ability to create charts & graphs

Presentation skills

Ability to use various measurement gages and equipment

Must be able to work in a team environment to accomplish goals

Promote cooperation with projection of positive behavior

Dependability: Must be able to maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct. Must be able to work any shift and overtime, as required.
