Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Mechanical Engineer at our Exeter, CA location. Engineers will design custom machinery based on end user requirements, and will produce all drawings required to manufacture the machine and all its subcomponents. They will also produce Bills of Materials and specify all component data for use by the Purchasing Department for procurement. Team members will check form and fit within the main machinery layout, and create installation drawings for items as necessary. Machine design will utilize Exeter Engineering standard components where possible, and new components will follow Exeter Engineering naming conventions. Press brake programming and part blanking is created by engineers for use by press brake operators. Travel to final location of machinery installation may be required to gather measurements and review machine operation. Engineers will communicate often throughout the design process with team members, suppliers, customers, and end users regarding various design criteria (functionality, serviceability, cost, etc.). Candidates can expect a wide range of problem-solving tasks, applied in open and constructive team environment.

Education:

Minimum 2 Years Postsecondary Education

Bachelor of Engineering preferred but not required.

  12. Waterjet/Laser cutting software (FlowPath/FlowCut)
  13. ACAD 2D
  14. Basic drawing, dimensioning.
  15. Printing / Layout setups.
  16. Machine Design:
  17. Create custom, complex machinery utilizing design principals of functionality, serviceability, safety, and efficiency.
  18. Experience in conveyor and machine design required.
  19. Experience in pneumatic & hydraulic design required.
  20. Experience in electric motor & gearbox sizing required.
  21. Knowledge of OSHA machine safety and catwalk/stairway/ladder requirements.
  22. General knowledge of fabrications methods and materials.
  23. Machining methods, part tolerancing .
  24. Sheet metal bending, forming, and rolling.
  25. Sheet laser cutting.
  26. MIG/TIG welding.
  27. Experience with structural steel & stainless-steel shapes.
  28. Experience in static & dynamic load calculations, shear & stress diagrams preferred but not required.
  29. Organization
  30. Meticulous attention to detail.
  31. Manage design process to prioritize.
  32. Follow standard naming conventions for custom and purchased components.
  33. Organize part data for BOM creation and parts ordering.
  34. Communication
  35. Candidates will be required to communicate well team members, customers, and suppliers in a timely and professional manner.
