Summary/Objective
The CNC Application Engineer is responsible for possessing a comprehensive understanding of cutting tools, troubleshooting 5-axis milling, multi-spindle turning operations, and Swiss machining processes. Applicants should have expertise in CAD/CAM software (such as Mastercam), proficiency in G-code, and macro programming.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develops CNC programs for a range of multi-axis CNC machines, including vertical and horizontal milling machines, mill turns, and Swiss lathes.
Identifies and implements solutions to enhance machine productivity and capability.
Offers technical support for quality control initiatives, process enhancements, cost-saving endeavors, and process development projects.
Assists in the development of manufacturing processes on various multi-axis milling and turning machines.
Proposes machining solutions to support new product development.
Leads projects and collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
Engages with equipment/tooling and material vendors to evaluate processes for potential improvements.
Prepares tool setup sheets for operators/machinists for utilization on the shop floor.
Provides CNC technical expertise during the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) process for new product development.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
Track record of at least 5 years of CNC programming experience
Familiarity with General Manufacturing Processes and Lean Six Sigma Tools.
Demonstrated manufacturing background with proficiency in CNC programming, setup, and operation.
Experience with Mastercam and SolidWorks is preferred.
Familiarity with NC controllers (PLC), FANUC robotics, and computer numerical control (CNC) programming from computer-aided design (CAD) models is advantageous.
