Senior Embedded Linux Developer

Our client is a premier developer of RF solutions, optical fiber technologies, and engineering services, catering primarily to aerospace and defense sectors. They are currently seeking a Senior Embedded Linux Developer to take charge of creating custom Linux environments tailored for the public safety sector.

The Senior Embedded Linux Developerwill focus on crafting and refining Linux-based systems using advanced configuration techniques in Yocto and Buildroot. This role involves a deep engagement with building, testing, and maintaining bootloaders, kernel customizations, and hardware support packages for bespoke hardware platforms.

Focus:
  • Develop and maintain custom Linux distributions specifically tailored using Yocto or Buildroot.
  • Design and implement custom bootloaders and hardware support packages for unique hardware configurations.
  • Engage in hands-on coding and system optimization for both digital and analog platforms.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art DevOps tools to enhance development efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with both application development teams and hardware engineers to ensure seamless software/hardware integration.
  • Maintain high standards in programming and system security across diverse projects.
  • Provide detailed updates on project status, including features, budgeting, and timelines.

Skill Set:
  • At least 5 years of senior-level experience in managing comprehensive Linux environments, with a strong emphasis on Yocto or Buildroot.
  • Demonstrated expertise in tailoring u-boot configurations and developing Board Support Packages (BSPs) for specialized hardware environments.
  • Proficient in testing kernel-level operations to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Thorough understanding and practical experience with modern DevOps practices and tools such as Git, Jenkins, and container technologies.
  • Expertise in C/C++ development and practical experience with digital testing equipment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.

  • Preferred:
  • Knowledge of C#/.NET, Python, JavaScript, and network protocols like Ethernet and EtherCAT.
  • Background in instrumentation, RF technologies, and metrology principles.
  • Experience in transitioning projects from design to production.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and team-based environments.
