Principal Tasks:

The Senior Specialist Trade Compliance is responsible for all aspects of Adtran's drawback process, the automated import entry audit process, and the customs clearance process in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Senior Specialist must have a passion for collecting and analyzing import and export data, filing accurate and timely claims, and acting as primary liaison between Adtran and third parties, including CBP, and ensuring the overall programs success and regulatory compliance.

The role reports into the Trade Compliance Manager and is part of the Finance organization. The Senior Specialist will analyze, format and verify all data to process accurate and complete drawback claims, audit entries, advise brokers on clearance issues, coordinate post-entry corrections, maintain clear and complete documents , and maintain customs performance metric reports.

Supplementary Tasks:

• Assist in the maintenance of Adtran's global data repository • Manage CBP's Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) system and CBSA's Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM) system • Establish and improve PGA related processes • Review and process export shipments in SAP/GTS • Support Canada's imports and exports • Handle daily work queues • Additional duties as assigned.

Customers (Internal & External):

Internal • Cross-functional position; Shipping & Logistics, Sales Operations, R&D, PLM

External • CBP, Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers

Skills / Qualifications / Training / Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree helpful • 5+ years of U.S. import/export experience • Demonstrable Microsoft Excel (Access) skills • Solid working knowledge of and experience with CBP compliance, audit, and drawback rules and regulations • Good understanding of HTS and ACE • Understanding of ECCN and EAR a plus • Experience with SAP/GTS a plus • Ability to multitask and high attention to detail.
