Estimating Engineer

Why Thermon:

As an Estimating Engineer at Thermon, you will be the first to look at incoming Requests for Quotation for Control Panels from Thermon Affiliates and Representative Companies, and you will respond with Cost/Price Estimates, directly steering customer projects into our design and production pipelines. You will use your understanding of Thermon products to respond to customer inquiries and provide technical support regarding the selection and use of Thermon Control Panels. You will have the opportunity to evolve our quotation process by creating tools to streamline your efforts, improving response times and customer satisfaction.

Primary purpose:

The primary purpose of the Estimating Engineer is to provide accurate quotations for manufactured goods, including bill-of-materials and labor estimates.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Triage incoming inquiries, ensuring quick response times for simple requests and proper preparation for more complicated requests.
• Respond to customer inquiries and determine the full scope of client needs regarding product solutions, pricing, and potential delivery dates.
• Analyze and organize documents received with customer Requests for Quotation.
• Collaborate with external sales, including commissioned representatives and third-party integrators, to effectively communicate our capabilities and product offerings.
• Interact with other departments to gather information, establish costs, and resolve any questions.
• Contacting and receiving quotations from external manufacturers, vendors, and contractors.
• Reviewing and confirming estimate information prior to submittal.
• Preparation of control panel quotations based on customer specifications and/or drawings, using current material pricing and accurate labor rates.
• Data entry for estimates, such as new parts, sub-assemblies, and costs, into computer software systems.
• Track multiple Requests for Quotation and Inquiries concurrently, including revisions.
• Regularly review and remain current on Thermon products, Operating Procedures, Quality Procedures and Manufacturing Specifications.

Qualifications:
• Engineering or Engineering Technology degree with 3 years relevant experience
• Excellent communication skills with customer relations experience
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Expert level in Microsoft Office suite of tools, especially Excel
• ERP system knowledge (AX dynamics preferred)
• Ability to conceptualize complex assemblies and large bills-of-materials
