Our mission is to empower insurance agencies using AI and other innovations so they can continue to compete in their market. As we scale our operations and technology stack, we are looking for a passionate Senior Backend Engineer with a focus on AI to join and eventually lead our backend engineering team.
The Role As a Senior Backend Engineer at our company, you will dive deep into our most complex features, focusing significantly on our Large Language Models (LLM). Initially, your first month will involve tackling smaller issues, features, and enhancements to acclimate you to our platform. Over time, you will:
Take on leadership responsibilities, guiding team projects and setting technical standards.
Drive the development and optimization of backend systems, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and robustness.
Collaborate closely with Product Leaders and other engineering teams to enhance product capabilities.
Design and implement database schemas and server scripting; devise architecture strategies that support a high-traffic, data-intensive application.
Stand up and fine-tune LLMs in production environments, meeting rigorous production-level requirements.
Responsibilities
Develop high-quality backend code with a focus on performance, scalability, and security.
Lead backend projects from conception to deployment, ensuring adherence to timelines and technical requirements.
Innovate and iterate on process improvements and product enhancements.
Mentor junior engineers and participate in the hiring process to build a resilient, versatile team.
Maintain and elevate a diverse tech stack, including but not limited to NextJS, NodeJS, Python, and Angular.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in backend development, with a proven track record of successful projects.
Expertise in multiple programming languages and frameworks mentioned in our tech stack.
Strong experience with LLMs, including deploying AI models in production environments.
Leadership skills or potential, with a desire to grow into an engineering management role.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong foundation in database management and architecture principles.
Preferred Skills
Prior experience in a startup environment.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and TDD.
