Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a college or university setting is preferred. A master’s degree is preferred.
Job Description Summary The University of South Alabama’s Student Center is seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Student Center. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Provides assistance to the Student Center Director with the daily management of the Student Center facility, to include ensuring a high level of customer service, student development, staff supervision, event management, and skilled and proactive technical support.
  • Manages the daily operations of the Student Center student staff, assists in the event reservation process, and oversees the Jag Card office.
  • Maintains the reservation system Event Management Software (EMS) for the Student Center and serves as one of the primary points of contact for all events held in the facility.
  • Provides and facilitates event support including audio-visual, technical, and furniture setup for Student Center users.
  • Communicates department and university policies to groups seeking to reserve space and serves as an event planning resource for campus, to include having a full understanding of university policies and procedures.
  • Monitors risk management exposure associated with the Student Center, to include assisting with event crowd management, fire code compliance, and ensuring the safety and security of ail users of the Student Center.
  • Leads the Jag Card operating system, to include the production of student identification cards and the maintenance of associated software and printers.
  • Oversees the Jag Card office and computer lab, to include ordering supplies, making deposits, maintaining technology, and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Manages the Student Center digital signage, radio, web pages, and security cameras.
  • Manages the access control system for the Student Center.
  • Attends Student Center user events as needed to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Supervises, hires, and trains student staff.
  • Serves as liaison to the USA Computer Services Center.
  • Participates in department and division professional development activities.
  • Maintains active participation in professional associations such as ACUI, NACCU, and NASPA.
  • Ensures compliance with university policies and local, state, and federal laws.
  • Collaborates with colleagues in the division and across campus to provide a comprehensive student life experience while maintaining a commitment to learning and personal development.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with faculty and staff for the purposes of increasing student involvement, building community, and creating co-curricular student development opportunities.
  • Performs all functions and responsibilities of a Campus Security Authority, as defined by the Clery Act.
  • Serves on division and university committees as assigned.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
