Job Description


PURPOSE AND SCOPE:


The Coordinator II, Quality Assurance plays a role in the LSC Student Financial Aid process. This position works with the Quality Assurance Manager to review and analyze student accounts, on a sample basis, to determine adherence to compliance of federal regulations, as well as institutional policies and procedures. This incumbent must keep abreast of changing laws with federal and state requirements.





ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  1. Monitors activities to ensure accuracy and compliance to internal and external regulations

  2. On a sample basis, collects, verifies and analyzes student information to determine eligibility to receive funds; provides information to the Manager, FA Quality Assurance for corrections

  3. Reviews processes and procedures and makes recommendations for improvements while adhering to federal and state guidelines

  4. Maintains current knowledge of Financial Aid regulations

  5. Conducts regular file reviews and identifies potential areas of vulnerability and risk, communicates findings with the Quality Assurance Manager

  6. Provides expert advice, and accurate and constant information to others in financial aid department

  7. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned





KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Strong knowledge of state and federal Financial Aid related regulations

  • Proficiency with all common office software including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

  • MS-Mail, and remote access systems skills may be required

  • Attention to accuracy and detail

  • Effective oral and written communication skills





PHYSICAL ABILITIES:


The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.




WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:



  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment

  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position

  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards





REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Associate's degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination and experience

  • Must be in, and maintain, good standing with the Department of Education for continued employment





PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree

Salary

Hiring salary range is $44,793 - $51,512


Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
