Job Title: General Manager

Location: Montgomery, IL

Job Type and Duration: Full time Direct hire

Pay rate: 120k plus depending on background and experience

Global organization specializing in the manufacturing and distribution of polymers is looking for a General Manager to be based out of their newly built facility in Montgomery.

The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the distribution facility operation with a focus on optimizing productivity and efficiency while maintaining robust safety and quality standards. Carries out management and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, applicable laws, and regulations.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Oversees activities of all departments within the facility including, production, shipping/receiving, lab, maintenance, customer service, inventory control, safety, and quality.
  • Works alongside Senior Management to plan, develop, implement, and enforce facility policies and goals.
  • Leads the development of robust reporting and utilizes reporting and analytics to drive productivity and operational efficiencies and to identify areas for improvement.
  • Overall responsibility for operational spend including management of manpower, maintenance, and supplies
  • Oversee the implementation and ongoing enhancement of a new WMS system in the facility, including optimizing processes and ways of working to assure the operation realizes the full system benefits
  • Plays a leading role in the transition of operations from the current facility in Shorewood, IL to the new facility in Montgomery, IL
  • Communicates with customers and commercial channels to support business opportunities and as an escalation point for service related failures
  • Instills a culture of safety at the facility and ensure the facility meets all Company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Ensures the facility meets all environment requirements including Operation Clean Sweep requirements.
  • Responsible to sign off on all ISO documents and assure the facility follows all ISO requirements
  • Assists Senior Management with strategic project initiatives.
  • Generate and conduct yearly employee evaluations
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Management.

Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications
  1. Education:
  2. Bachelor's Degree - preferred.
  3. Minimum of 10 years of related experience in a similar role, including people management; responsibility to include the following in a manufacturing a distribution environment
  • Staff planning; decision-making; facilitating process improvement; taking responsibility for subordinates' activities; provides regular performance feedback; continually works to improve supervisory skills. Treats people with respect; works with integrity and upholds organizational values.
  • Business Acumen to include the understanding of business implications of decisions. Works within approved budget. Contributes to profit and revenue. Exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.
  1. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  2. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  3. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and experience using warehouse management systems; order processing systems; business intelligance tools (i.e. Tableau, Microsoft BI), and be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  4. Capable of developing project plans and communicating changes and progress.
  5. Demonstrated leadership capabilities; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality within the facility.
