As a Billing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the billing process for our firm's clients. You will oversee a team of billing specialists, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with legal and ethical standards. This role requires a meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients and internal stakeholders. Billing Manager Responsibilities:
Supervise and mentor a team of billing specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance
Manage the billing process from start to finish, including reviewing invoices, tracking billable hours and resolving billing discrepancies
Collaborate with attorneys and practice groups to ensure accurate and timely invoicing of client matters
Monitor billing guidelines and compliance requirements for various clients and billing arrangements
Develop and implement best practices and procedures to streamline the billing process and improve efficiency
Prepare billing reports and analyses for firm management, providing insights into billing trends and performance metrics
Serve as the primary point of contact for billing inquiries from attorneys, clients and internal departments
Billing Manager Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field
5+ years of experience in legal billing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
Strong understanding of legal billing practices, including billable hours, alternative fee arrangements and client billing guidelines
Proficiency in legal billing software, such as Elite, Aderant or similar platforms
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys, clients and team members
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to producing high-quality work
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team in a fast-paced environment
Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards in the legal industry
