We are currently seeking a Senior Field Technician (Geotechnical Construction) to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in our Seattle, WA office.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:

  • Provide constructionmonitoring/on-site engineering observation for geotechnical projects.
  • Perform site reconnaissanceto observe existing conditions, assess for subsurface explorations, andidentify important site features.
  • Monitor subsurfaceexploration activities that include the use of test boring and geoprobe rigs,and machine excavated test pits to gather soil and bedrock samples.
  • Conduct fieldinvestigations, including soil and groundwater sampling in accordance withapplicable ASTM standards and other industry standard guidelines.
  • Compile, reduce, analyze,manage, and report field, instrumentation, geological, and/or environmentaldata, using excel and other tools.
  • Use of various geotechnicalinstrumentation equipment.
  • Support preparation ofwritten reports, proposals, cost estimates, and other client deliverables.
  • Adhere to Site SpecificHealth and Safety Plans prepared for each project site. As applicable,participate in site safety briefings and audits by both contractors and Haley& Aldrich.
  • Assist the onsite healthand safety officer with monitoring and correcting safety behaviors andpractices.
  • Assist and report directlyto the onsite Construction Manager to support daily construction operations.
  • Preparation, maintenance,and implementation of various document control entities such as daily reports.
  • Work as a liaison to designand engineering teams to provide detailed and real-time information of fieldconditions to resolve technical problems.
  • Perform onsite soil andgroundwater sampling and testing duties as required to support the project forquality assurance.
  • Assist with status updatesto the project schedule.
  • Obtain vendor quotations toconfirm or acquire market pricing.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • HS Diploma or AA degree in SoilScience a plus
  • Minimum 2-5 years of relatedgeotechnical engineering, construction, field work experience preferred.
  • Experience required withdrilled shafts, tiebacks, shoring, soldier piles, construction monitoring andfoundation construction observation.
  • Organized work approach with theability to adapt and adjust as required to support the projects current needs.
  • A desire to seek out and resolveconstruction problems/conflicts that arise during design and constructionphases.
  • Goal-orientated approach topromptly coordinate and resolve project issues within the project team(including interfacing with designers, engineers, and owners).
  • Excellent listening and strongcommunication skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolvecomplex issues.
  • Effective participation in teamenvironment.
  • Proficient computer skills inMicrosoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
  • A strong work ethic, a “can-do”attitude, and a passion for construction.
  • Valid driver’s license and areliable form of transportation to get to field sites.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferredbut not required.
  • Nuclear Density GaugeCertification preferred but not required.

The salary range for this position in Seattle, WA is $35 - $39 per hour. Actual compensation will be based upon a variety of factors such as education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and current market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges each quarter to ensure we are competitive in the current market. This role is eligible to participate in the company’s discretionary bonus program. This role may be eligible to receive a sign-on bonus.
