Job Description:

The Platform Manager is responsible for managing customer lifecycle support needs by providing a central point of contact for assigned vessels to administer sales for parts and services. This position works alongside field service technicians, planners, and other business lines to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of repair and maintenance work occurring on the vessel. The primary duty includes providing customer care while building the DMS brand for repeat/ reliable parts and services.


Education:

  • BS – Business Administration/Management/Engineering


Experience:

  • 10 years of experience in related industry and role; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • PMP preferred

  • Familiarity with marine engineering and shipboard equipment and systems.

  • Previous MRO, Parts Management or Maintenance experience

  • Working knowledge, understanding and experience with work specifications, diagrams, blueprints, drawings, test procedures, technical manuals, inventory management, and the Navy Stock System


Professional Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Knowledge and skill in using computer software, including Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint

  • Interpersonal, presentation and communication skills

  • Previous MRO or Parts Management or Maintenance experience.

  • Experienced in research/study of technical and programmatic information and become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the company.

  • Experienced at problem solving.

  • Experienced in reporting executive level status of programmatic issues


Accountabilities:

  • Improve MRO department processes including scheduling, billing, and job planning.
  • Support growth of Defense Maritime Solutions MRO Business Department.


Main Responsibilities:

Manages MRO activities throughout the United States.

  • Assists in development of strategies and tactics required to achieve customer service goals.
  • Technical and strategic input to achieve customer based solutions
  • Communicates with DMS Field Services Department to assure product performance needs are met in terms of product quality and, life cycle costs are achieved.
Interfaces with External Customers and Suppliers as necessary and promotes proper follow up and positive image.
  • Coordinates all customer requirements associated with planned work scope and provides for the single point of contact.
  • Reviews proposals and work packages pushing for on time delivery in a complete and high-quality format.
  • Participate in pre-planning meetings with all departments, as required, to ensure that work is planned, materials are ordered, and pre-introduction calls to customers are held
  • Maintain communication with customer regarding status and disposition of the program, and the financial obligations
  • Interdepartmental coordination to facilitate timely and accurate invoicing to the customer for services provided

Develops estimates and proposals using guidance from established policies and procedures

  • Negotiates with customers to define and achieve appropriate scope for stakeholder requirements
  • Researches historical records for similar requirements
  • Develop project estimates to include labor and material
  • Organizes execution of ship checks and scope/statements of work
  • Obtains appropriate review/approvals per the established guidance
  • Maintains critical records in accordance with ISO procedures


Development Responsibilities:
  • Develop appropriate strategies for achieving service volume goals and achieving budgeted profit margins.
  • Verify that proposal and service order documentation is complete and accurate
  • Ensure all pertinent information is communicated to assigned personnel.
  • Deliver and develop continuous improvement solutions focused on efficiencies, improved timeline and improved customer satisfaction
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation with all departments
  • Administer contracts, warranty and special programs
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Authorities:

  • Develop quotations, orders, and requisitions in accordance with DMS written statements of internal control
