Position Summary | The purpose of this position is to provide excellent hospitality service and contributing to the overall mission and business needs of the hotel. This includes but is not limited to: checking guests in/out, answering phones, making guest reservations, responding/interacting with guests, cash handling, night audit/porter duties, working with hotel and PSU departments, and other hospitality focused tasks/responsibilities. The position is for day, night, and overnight shifts on weekdays, weekends, holidays, and campus closures. The expectation is two 10-hour shifts overnight or three 8-hour shifts overnight and the remaining as day shifts. Front Desk Agents must be detail-oriented and able to remain courteous and focused in a busy hospitality environment. |
Minimum Qualifications from Classification | Completion of courses or training in Office Technology; OR One year of general clerical experience which included typing, word processing, or other generation of documents; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position | - Completion of high school education - At least one year of hotel or similar hospitality/travel industry experience./ - Experience with responsibly handling cash and sensitive guest information. CUSTOMER SERVICE: The front desk is the main contact pint for all who enter the hotel. A person in this position needs to exhibit awareness of representing the whole hotel (and PSU) by providing consistently excellent service to all guests/visitors. - Ability to resolve conflict and to address guest needs in a professional and timely manner in busy, sometimes stressful circumstances. - Must be confident in making direct eye contact, and present an open and friendly nature. COMMUNICATION: - Ability to clearly communicate effectively with a diverse customer base in person, in writing, by telephone or by email to include greeting customers, guests, and visitors in a professional and welcoming manner, collecting payments, helping guests needing assistance, answering customer or public inquiries. - Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and work instructions. - Ability to write clear, complete and accurate routine reports and correspondence to provide information to supervisors and co-workers. |

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement | The starting hourly rate for this position will be between $16.60 and $17.80. The starting hourly rate may be negotiable above this range, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR. PSU’s excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities. |
