Site Maintenance Specialist

@Orchard LLC is actively seeking to engage an experienced Site Maintenance Specialist in support of NOAA's Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary (HIHWNMS). The work is located at the HIHWNMS headquarters in Kihei, HI.

As the Site Maintenance Specialist, you will:

• Complete all janitorial and maintenance for the Kihei site as required, including interior and exterior of building, and grounds.
• Upkeep Kihei facilities to all safety, operational, and professional standards.
• Track and report all cleaning and restroom supplies required for ordering purposes.
• Assist with identifying service contractors for repair work and report to appropriate site management.
• Assure the Kihei campus is safe, looks well-maintained, and clean, identify areas that need work, and consult with site management on needed plans.
• Perform simple repairs such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical as required, and assist any outside contractors as needed.
• Maintain equipment, and manage vehicles (cleans, fuels, and takes vehicle in for services as required), as directed.
• Maintain and update all site maintenance schedules.
• Assist and report on work by any community service workers and volunteers who engage in site upkeep and maintenance.

Your background will include the following.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience working in a similar position involving janitorial, landscaping, facilities maintenance, and repair including carpentry, painting, and general handyperson skills.
• Knowledge of basic facilities repair, landscaping, irrigation maintenance, and native plant restoration is desired.
• Able to assess a wide variety of facility problems and repair them efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Able to operate a variety of power tools, hand tools, and cleaning equipment.
• Skillful in carpentry, basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance, and repair.
• Should have basic computer skills for email and internet searches.
