Area of Accountability



Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in new product design, focusing on prototype fabrication, testing in a high tech R&D lab, as well as helping in real-world project management and providing drawing support of Wheel End and Brake products for the heavy duty commercial vehicle market? If so, the Wheel End and Brake co-op position could be the right fit for you.



Major Responsibilities (May Vary Depending on Project):



  • Assist senior engineers in developing new wheel end products

  • Assist senior engineers in developing disc and drum brake systems

  • Update engineering drawings and maintain them in the Teamcenter engineering database

  • Provide design, drafting and testing support to assist with new product launches

  • Assist senior engineering in competitive product evaluation

  • Create Creo (Pro-E) 3-D models for parts fit up studies

  • Perform other tasks as needed by the department




Qualifications - Internal



  • Enrolled student working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong PC Skills (spreadsheets, word processing) a must and proficiency in AutoCAD, and 3-D modeling a plus

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and complete tasks with demanding time frames and minimal supervision

  • Strong numeric and analytical skills

  • Self-motivated with good project management, organization and planning skills

  • Enjoys working "hands-on" in the test lab
