Kforce has a client that is seeking a Director of Accounting in Washington, DC.
Responsibilities:
Director of Accounting will oversee day-to-day accounting operations for the accounts payable department, including leading month-end and annual closing processes
Manage lease accounting, ensuring compliance with ASC842 standards and accuracy in lease calculations and treatments
Handle yearly accruals to ensure completeness and accuracy
Support intercompany consolidations and expense processing with best practices
Lead the accounts payable department, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance evaluations
Supervise the processing of vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and other payables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
Develop and implement accounting strategies aligned with company goals, emphasizing new Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
As a Director of Accounting, you will collaborate with executive leadership, providing financial guidance and insights
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records, including monthly, annual reconciliations, and year-end activities
Stay informed about evolving government, client (USAID), and GAAP standards to implement best practices
Lead process improvement initiatives across accounting systems and functions
Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors for regulatory and client compliance
Promote best practices across accounting teams and functions through cross-team collaboration
Identify opportunities for process improvements in accounts payable functions, streamlining and implementing automated solutions
REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this position, candidates must have experience in a similar role, or they must possess significant knowledge, experience, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities listed
Relevant education and/or training will be considered a plus
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
