Responsibilities:
This position supports all administrative aspects of the Office of Field Placement. Major duties and responsibilities include the use of current technology to prepare and disseminate correspondence, prepare forms and documents, maintain databases, and maintain office files. In addition, the Field Placement Coordinator serves a liaison function both within and outside the field placement office by coordinating and tracking placements for teacher candidates in school systems within the allotted geographical region; answers queries from students, program faculty, and staff regarding program services; and assists the Faculty Liaisons to Field Experience in the planning, preparation, and implementation of orientations, seminars, and workshops, including but not limited to contacting appropriate university staff to facilitate room requests, dates, times, and technology. This position performs other duties, either as assigned or at the Director of Field Placement’s or Associate Dean for Fieldwork's discretion.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree and one year administrative office support experience is required. In lieu of a degree, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Advanced Computer Literacy (Excel, Microsoft Office, etc.)
Office Etiquette (i.e. Customer Service, Professionalism)
Ability to prioritize and multi-task for time-sensitive field placements
Excellent communication skills both oral and written to build/maintain positive professional relationships.
Ability to work effectively with support areas on campus, such as the Registrar’s Office, to facilitate
placements and related orientations and seminars.
Must be detail-oriented and possess a high level of initiative to complete placements and maintain
accurate records.
Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills to complete placements and maintain accurate
records.
Exhibits thorough knowledge of field placement policies and procedures for Mercer and for surrounding
schools systems in order to facilitate placements.
Possesses a strong work ethic to maintain the work load.
Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
