Student Involvement and Leadership Student Government Coordinator



The Student Involvement and Leadership Government Coordinator will serve as the coordinator over the student government board at SUU. This position will hire, train, direct, supervise, mentor, and lead the Student Judicial Council, Student Senate, Student Belonging and Engagement Committee, the Student Life Enhancement Committee, Student Body President, and the Finance Vice President, as well as other student driven initiatives and events through the Student Involvement and Leadership (STIL) Center. This position works closely with the various departments across campus to enhance student involvement and student advocacy in their student representatives, and much more.



Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Chair for the SUUSA Student Elections process annually for all elected student leaders within SUUSA. Recruit, hire, train, and oversee the SUUSA Elections Commission and Election Director, Plan Elections based programming to get candidates and garnish votes.
• Oversee the Student Life Enhancement Committee (SLEC) and help filter MySUU voice submissions and determine appropriate approaches for addressing the given feedback.
• Mentor, train, and oversee the Student Body President for the Student Association (SUUSA) to ensure that key deadlines are being met, important communication is being shared, and their initiatives are being supported.
• Mentor, train, and oversee the SUUSA Finance Vice President in their endeavors, approve larger funding ideas, and serve as a council for the funding requests through the finance committee.
• Appoint the Belonging and Engagement Vice President as well as recruit, hire, mentor and advise the Belonging and Engagement Council while ensuring that campus at large is equitable, student needs are being met across campus.
• Appoint the Judicial Vice President as well as recruit, hire, mentor and advise the Judicial Council while ensuring that the governing bylaws are being followed, regular maintenance for the constitution of SUUSA, and other governing documents.
• Mentor, train, and oversee the Executive Vice President and the Student Life Enhancement Committee to ensure we are best representing the student voice, needs, and concerns.
• Mentor, train, and advise the Academics Vice President and the SUUSA senate in their bill writing, resolutions, team meetings, connections with their representatives, college awareness, etc.
• Help oversee STIL at large programming (Thunder U, Homecoming Week, Founders Week, etc.), training, meetings, retreats, etc. for all students within the STIL Center and campus at large.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• 
  Minimum Qualifications :
  
  Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
• Experience in large student programming.
• Experience in student organization advising.
• Ability to work with students, faculty, staff and administrative personnel.
• Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality in records and communication.
• Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills.
• Ability to oversee a large budget.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience and strength in Google Suite
• Knowledge of student development theories
• Adaptable and willing to be flexible with event changes and demands
• Experience with student athletic sections and school spirit programming
• Experience with contracting and working with agents and outside entertainers/companies
• Strength in organization and ability to work with many campus partners.
