Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.



Job Summary: As an Environmental Services Worker I, your role involves the daily intensive cleaning of assigned hospital areas, prioritizing infection prevention. You'll update the Environmental Services Supervisor on task status and report areas needing improvement.



Essential Job Functions:

• Follow the 7-Step Cleaning Procedure in assigned areas.


• Empty and clean waste receptacles, remove trash, and reline baskets.


• Remove soiled linen, deliver to designated areas.


• Dust high surfaces, wipe and disinfect horizontal surfaces, furniture, and equipment.


• Mop and dry floors, clean kick-plates, and vacuum carpets.


• Spot clean walls, windows, doors, and frames; polish metal surfaces.


• Clean restroom fixtures, polish chrome/metal fixtures, and replenish supplies.


• Remove linen, clean and disinfect beds, mattresses, and bed rails; remake beds.


• Adjust draperies, shades, blinds, and arrange furniture.


• Polish metal fixtures, stainless steel walls, doors, and corner guards.


• Respond promptly to patient discharge room cleaning requests.


• Keep supervisor updated on task status, complete daily assignments.


• Follow established break procedures, maintain detailed and high-quality cleaning.


• Complete work orders and communicate areas for improvement.


• Demonstrate AIDET through patient and customer engagement.


• Assist co-workers, provide input for process improvement.

Job Requirements:

• Read, write, speak, and understand English.


• Customer service, hospitality, or healthcare-related experience.
