This role is located on-site in Ogden, Utah.


The Role:
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist is an hourly position and a key member of the Chromalox Ogden EHS Team. The specialist is responsible for ensuring that all required environmental, health, and safety activities are completed in compliance with regulatory and policy requirements. Additionally, this role involves assisting in the oversight of site projects once they are in progress. The EHS Specialist reports directly to the Site EHS Manager and works the 2nd shift, from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain the EH&S Management System, including the deployment of EH&S programs and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines; EH&S policies, procedures, initiatives; and Industry Best Practices.
  • Ensure compliance with the EH&S Program by all site personnel, visitors and contractors through appropriate awareness level and task-specific training
  • Work closely with the EH&S Manager and Site Leadership to ensure continual improvement and compliance with all EH&S activities in support of the EH&S Management System.
  • Participate in Site Audits & Inspections, Risk Assessments, and Incident Investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, prevent the escalation and occurrence of injuries, identify potential risks, and ensure the timely close out of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the completion of hazard assessments, including but not limited to PPE, ergonomic, machine guarding, confined space, fall protection, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain key safety documents, such as JSAs/JHAs, Energy Control Procedures, Audit Templates, etc.
  • Manage the Site Security Process, Security Plan, and Emergency Planning and Response Process.
  • Provide regulatory and practical training. Train supervisors and team leads regarding their EH&S responsibilities the recognition of hazards and risks, and completion of incident investigations.
  • Support the evaluation of EH&S impacts to the facility, employees, and permits prior to the implementation of change.
  • Provide oversight for contractor safety management and contractor installation of equipment.



Required Experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. An ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of employees, leadership, consultants, and regulatory entities.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking methods: define problems, collect and interpret relevant data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and implement countermeasures.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees and/or customers.
  • Hands-on with a sense of urgency, ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities and projects. Attention to detail is essential in addition to multi-tasking ability
  • Ability to self-start and follow through on tasks.
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and impact change.
  • Well organized and demonstrated ability to establish priorities.
  • Ability to observe strict confidentiality.
  • Preferred candidate should have experience in industrial manufacturing (machining or metal working preferred) with strong working knowledge of fire safety, welding, electrical safety / LOTO, machine guarding, mechanical ventilation, manual handling, and ergonomics.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety, health, and environmental programs and some familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.
  • Must have experience implementing and managing EH&S plans and programs.
  • Must be able and willing to work 2nd shift, from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM.
