Primrose Retirement Communities is hiring for a Sous Chef to assist with daily kitchen operations, creating high-quality nutritious meals and a pleasant dining experience for residents and guests. The sous chef serves as the kitchen lead and supervises all kitchen operations in the absence of the Dining Director.


 


More about the position responsibilities: 



  • Ensure that high-quality, nutritious meals are prepared to serve in a timely manner.

  • Aids in developing menus and special meals according to standardized recipes.

  • Monitors the quality and consistency of food, ensuring that food products, presentation, portion control, and plating are appropriate, and implements timely changes to ensure quality according to established standards.

  • Assists the Dining Director with kitchen operations including, but not limited to; purchasing food and supplies from approved vendors, monitoring inventories, training new staff, assuring sanitary conditions and managing meal service when Dining Director is off duty.

  • Demonstrates proficiency of various cooking methods including, but not limited to; baking, frying, cold salad prep, sauteing and general short order cooking.

  • Operates kitchen equipment in correct, safe, and sanitary manner.

  • Stores leftovers properly according to food handling standards.

  • Completes cleaning tasks as assigned according to schedule.

  • Attends any in-service educational programs recommended by the Executive Director.

  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Dining Director or Executive Director, in accordance with the overall mission and goals of the Primrose dietary team.

What we're looking for: 



  • Must have previous experience as a Sous Chef or kitchen lead experience preferred.

  • Sanitation Certified (ServSafe) or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

  • High volume production or catering experience is essential.

  • Must be flexible and accommodating to residents and guests.

  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Must have a solid work ethic, positive attitude, and be a good team player.
