Transport Driver

Moab, UT

As a construction, paving transport driver, your primary responsibility is to transport materials, equipment, and personnel to and from construction sites safely and efficiently. Your job description may include:

• 
  Transportation: Operating trucks, trailers, or other vehicles to transport construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, gravel, and equipment like pavers, rollers, and excavators to and from job sites.
• 
  Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations while driving and operating equipment. This includes securing loads properly and conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• 
  Load Management: Loading and unloading materials and equipment onto trucks, ensuring that they are properly secured and balanced for safe transport.
• 
  Route Planning: Planning the most efficient routes to minimize travel time and fuel consumption while avoiding obstacles such as traffic congestion, road closures, and low-clearance obstacles.
• 
  Communication: Maintaining communication with supervisors, dispatchers, and other team members to coordinate schedules, report delays or issues, and ensure smooth operations.
• 
  Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment, such as checking fluid levels, inspecting tires, and cleaning interiors and exteriors.
• 
  Customer Service: Providing excellent customer service by addressing client needs and concerns professionally and efficiently.
• 
  Documentation: Keeping accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery receipts.
• 
  Adherence to Schedule: Ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project deadlines and scheduling requirements.
• 
  Teamwork: Collaborating with other construction workers, supervisors, and subcontractors to support overall project objectives and maintain a safe and productive work environment.

Skills & Experience

• Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required
• Possess and maintain a company approved motor vehicle record (MVR)
• Ability to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission
• Ability to work seasonal overtime as needed
• Ability to work and contribute to both an independent and team environment
• Ability to effectively communicate information one on one and small group situations with customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instruction
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to fill out log books, timecards and DVIR's (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports)
• Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide using whole numbers

In addition to these primary responsibilities, you may also be required to perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor, depending on the specific needs of the construction project and company policies.
