Responsible for operation of the Business Office, handling all accounting transactions, cash receipts and disbursements, preparation of financial statements, grant accounts, and reporting to state and federal agencies.
Primary Functions/Responsibilities
Supervise Business Office employees.
Accounting for all cash receipts and disbursements.
Preparation of adjusting entries.
Preparation of financial statements.
Assist in implementation of software systems.
Coordinate outside audit, including preparation of client prepared schedules.
Review and handle preparation of financial reports to state and federal agencies.
Monitor and handle reporting of financial activities of government grant projects.
Supervise internal audits of college.
Preparation of foundation financial data and coordinate annual foundation audit.
Coordination and Accountability Tasks
As assigned by the Vice President of Finance and Operations
Supervises the Following Staff
Payroll
Cash receipts
Accounts payable
Foundation Accountant.
Work study students assigned to Business Office
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and other Characteristics
Knowledge of fund accounting, government grants, and reporting requirements to various state, federal and outside agencies.
Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
Working knowledge of PC in both system and application software.
Ability to work with many people to coordinate activities between the Business Office and other campus facilities.
Experience
Five years experience in computerized accounting systems required.
Five years experience in operation of a double entry system of accounts required.
One year experience in Public Accounting preferred.
Two to five years experience in Fund Accounting preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting required.
